In July 2014, he joined the team for the 2014 NBA Summer League, and later in August 2014, he was waived by the Grizzlies.

Then in October 2014, Franklin joined the Zhejiang Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association for a two-month contract.

After signing one month’s contract extension, he logged 53 points on a 19-of-29 shooting in a Zhejiang victory.

The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League acquired Franklin in January, he had a season-best game with 27 points, and he added 13 rebounds during his stint with D-Fenders.
